Ware Jackson secures full defense verdict plus fees
Ware Jackson partner Don Jackson and of-counsel Scott Hooper, as co-leads, along with partner Michelle R. Meriam Blair, won a jury verdict exonerating Ware Jackson’s clients and awarding them the full measure of damages on their counterclaim. Associate Avery Sheppard and paralegal Bethany Remlinger rounded out the Ware Jackson team. John and Denise Kim, partners in The Kim Law Firm, represented the co-defendant, which also achieved a complete victory. The plaintiff argued to the jury for approximately $17,000,000. The jury found in favor of all three defendants on all liability issues. The jury further found that the plaintiff breached the parties’ settlement agreement by asserting claims waived in that agreement. The jury awarded defendants over $2,200,000 in attorneys’ fees as damages. The case was tried January 22–February 7, 2020 in the 281st Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas.
